Company page vs personal page on LinkedIn: what are the differences?

Yumea·

LinkedIn is a platform that is gaining increasing popularity, both for brands and businesses and as a personal account. Now boasting 150 million members, the platform continues to improve and offer its users an innovative service.

However, there are a few differences to bear in mind depending on your position and your needs.

Présentation LinkedIn

The company page

Creating a company page for your business means asserting your brand's positioning. As one of today's best-known professional networks, creating a page dedicated to your company or brand can be a real asset, particularly in terms of brand awareness. It becomes difficult for anyone to overlook you entirely.

When it comes to the company page, it can allow you to highlight your company's different values, its positioning, and the needs it addresses. In other words, it is your already-established marketing message — the same as on your website, if you have one.

It is worth noting that a company page can be important insofar as it develops the visibility of your brand but also your network: it is therefore likely to broaden the reach of your target audience and yield additional business advantages.

The benefits

Compared to an institutional website, the company page acts as a kind of filter that lets you reach a larger professional audience. Better still, LinkedIn handles everything, so you need no real strategy in place: the platform has a built-in interaction layer to carry out these steps for you. Just as with social media, LinkedIn works when you interact with other users and engage with what interests them.

You also have a large number of elements at your disposal to help improve your company's visibility, such as:

  • your logo and images relating to your company
  • your employees
  • news about you
  • a chat function for direct contact

The personal page (your LinkedIn profile)

The personal page is, in essence, your digital professional identity card. It reveals your professionalism to a large number of people who may be interested. This represents a genuine asset for your career.

It allows you to quickly connect with people who share professional similarities with you, without needing to attend numerous trade fairs or meetings.

Moreover, as with a company page, your personal profile must be kept active. Feeding your account and sharing with other users allows you to build valuable contacts quickly. It will project a dynamic image of you.

The limitations of LinkedIn

LinkedIn, for all its potential, does come with a few risks (but then, which social network doesn't?). Many people raise the issue of identity theft, given that you share some personal information about yourself publicly. This reluctance is very common and can create a few barriers between you and other interesting professional profiles.

In short, whatever your profile, being present and active on LinkedIn can only benefit you — provided you use it correctly.
