On average, a person uses 9 mobile applications per day. That is what a 2017 App Annie study on consumer smartphone habits revealed. In total, more than 90 billion apps were downloaded during that year alone, and users are estimated to have spent over 900 billion hours on these tools!

An average of 30 apps per month

The study covers several countries — France, Japan, Mexico, the United States, Germany, India and others — giving a fairly representative global picture of consumer habits.

In France, for instance, a smartphone contains an average of almost 100 applications in a given month. Of those 100 apps, only 30 are used on a regular basis.

On a daily average, that comes to 9 apps used per day — both the global figure and the French figure. English-speaking users, meanwhile, average 11 apps per day.

The most-used apps?

Unsurprisingly, social networks top the list. There is, however, a notable difference between Android and iOS: Android users are 30% more likely to play games, while generally having lower overall mobile app usage.
