How to Fight Spam in Your Website's Comments
Spam is a genuine scourge of the web. Who has never received a fraudulent email? And which site owner has never received a dubious comment?
Spam on WordPress is not uncommon. As a powerful and popular platform, WordPress is inevitably a prime target. But what if we told you that you do not have to put up with this spam? That your site's comments can be freed from these unwanted messages that slow it down?
Yes, it is possible. And today, we are going to look at 2 ways to achieve it.
Akismet

Akismet is a plugin that blocks spam on WordPress. It is all the more convenient because it is already installed on your site by default!
All you need to do is activate it. To do so, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins in your WordPress dashboard. Find Akismet in the list and click Activate.
Akismet will ask you for an activation key — click the "Get your API key" button. You will be redirected to the Akismet website. Click "Get an Akismet API key" and fill in the form.
The next step will ask you to pay, but do not worry: simply slide the green cursor from right to left until the displayed amount shows €0.
Add your contact information and then click "Automatically save your Akismet API key". Once back in your WordPress admin panel, validate the key and save the changes.
And that is all there is to it!
An Alternative to Akismet? Antispam Bee

Akismet is particularly popular, primarily for its simplicity and the fact that it is free. But it is not the only plugin for protecting your site against spam.
Antispam Bee is also an excellent choice: free, ad-free, and GDPR-compliant. A very strong alternative — some users even consider it better than Akismet.
Antispam Bee is not automatically installed on WordPress, but you can easily add it at this address.
We hope that one of these plugins will meet your needs.
Never again let spam flood your site, slow it down, and put off visitors.
