The Words of the Week #22
Will you take up the challenge of using these 10 words in your daily conversations this week?
That is the challenge we set every week to help you (re)discover certain words in an enjoyable way.
1. Ductile : Adjective. Able to be stretched without breaking.
2. Synecdoche : Noun, feminine. A figure of speech that takes a part of something to represent the whole, or vice versa, etc. Example: "His bike got a puncture," when it is only the tyre that is punctured; "Sails on the open sea," to designate an entire vessel.
3. Metamorphosis : Noun, feminine. A change of form or appearance.
4. Chryselephantine : Adjective. Composed of gold and ivory.
5. Temerity : Noun, feminine. Reckless courage; lack of prudence.
6. Cowardice : Noun, feminine. Lack of courage; pusillanimity.
7. Immune : Adjective. Said of a subject who is immunised; resistant to infection.
8. Trinket : Noun, masculine. A bauble; an object of no value.
9. Taction : Noun, feminine. A touch; the act of touching.
10. Adamantine : Adjective. Having the lustre or hardness of a diamond. Diamond-like.
