The 10 words of the week #10
Each week, we revisit 10 words that have almost vanished from spoken language. Will you manage to use them in your conversations this week?
1. Affability : Noun, feminine. Amiability; the quality of someone who receives and listens to others with warmth and goodwill.
2. Idoine : Adjective. That which is appropriate; that which fits perfectly.
3. To revile (Honnir) : Verb. To cover with shame; to despise.
4. Mephistophelian : Adjective. Diabolical; devilish.
5. To suit (Seoir) : Verb. To be fitting for a context, or to adapt to it.
6. Diantre : Interjection. An exclamation expressing surprise or admiration; "the devil!", "goodness!".
7. Unreason : Noun, feminine. A lack of good sense; irrationality.
8. Flavescence : Noun, feminine. A poetic expression describing a golden, brilliant colour.
9. Well-stocked (Achalandé) : Adjective. Offering a wide range; well-supplied. Used of a shop or business with abundant stock.
10. Wrath : Noun, masculine. An intense, fierce rage. Often used in mythologies to describe the anger of the gods.
