Your accountant sees each month what's grinding in your business. For a business-tool need, they're often best placed to steer you. Here's why.

When an SME looks for a tool to run a part of their business, they first look at software vendors, sometimes an agency. The accountant is rarely consulted. That's a shame: they're often the best-placed person to detect a need. Three reasons.

They see your numbers for real, every month

An accountant doing serious work spends several hours a month understanding why your numbers are what they are. By reconciling invoices, bank statements, and your sales documents, they see where it grinds: the same client billed three times because of unclear process, stock never reconciled, entries typed twice in two places by two people. For an agency building a business tool, those are precious clues: more precious than any brief written by the owner, who's often too close to see.

They have nothing to sell you

A software vendor has a direct interest in selling you their software. An agency has a direct interest in selling you a project. An accountant has nothing to sell you on a business tool: different trade. That's what makes their opinion particularly valuable. If your accountant says "I think you need a tool for this", they really saw something. No incentive to invent a need.

They know your sector from the inside

A good accountant works with several businesses in your sector. They see what your competitors have done to solve problems like yours, not in detail, but enough to tell you "your competitors often have a tool for this, you don't, that may be why you spend more time on this role." An informal benchmark, often more pertinent than sector studies: because it's drawn from real cases, not averages.

How we work with accountants

We have a few Lyon accountants who refer us when they see a need. In return, we always flag when a tool project will impact their accounting: they know before close what they'll see arriving. A circle of trust benefiting your business: one diagnoses, the other builds, and nobody tells you stories because each has an interest in the other staying honest.

What we've seen on the ground

An accountant called us on a Tuesday: "I have a client with the same bank reconciliation errors every month, she tells me 'it's the software', I think it's for you." We visited her one morning, and her software indeed didn't handle a specific category of weekly receipts. We built a small extension module that settled it. The accountant saw it land in her software without having to make adjustments.

FAQ

My accountant isn't in Lyon, is that a problem? Not for us. We can work with an accountant anywhere, provided they know your business well and are willing to talk. I don't want my accountant to know what I'm doing with you. Normal. We never contact them without your agreement. You decide when, and what details to share.
